Details: This elegant Alessi 90017 Il Conico Kettle was designed by Richard Sapper for the manufacturer Alessi.
With more than a hint of architecture in its clean lines and finial-like top, this kettle is set to be a new favourite. Richard Sapper was German by birth, but Italian by residence and in his stylistic vision. His ceaselessly intelligent and enquiring approach -- he studied everything from philosophy and economics to anatomy -- made him a natural-born inventor. Often, his finest innovations are worked deep into the design, just as they are here.
This beautifully designed Alessi 90017 Il Conico Kettle is manufactured in polished stainless steel with a synthetic handle. It measures 22cm in diameter and is 22cm high from the base to the top of its conical lid. With its charm and personality, it looks great in the kitchen and makes teatime feel a little more special. However, its most distinctive feature is hidden on the inside; tired of the shrill sound of water being ready, Sapper fitted the spout with a beautifully tuneful two-tone brass whistle. Its notes are supposedly inspired by the sound of steamships on the River Rhine - a nod to Germany from this Italian design classic.
